This very pleasant fishery is situated just outside Shilton to the NW of
Rugby The main pool houses some 40 anglers with decent pegs laid out and good
access from the adjacent car park. Although some match fishing does take place
the management tend to favour the pleasure angler and restrict matches to the
Autumn and Winter months, although that situation can change. There is a good
stock of all sorts in here with some good carp, tench, bream and roach. Carp
over 101b are conmmon so it suits the man who wants bigger fish as well the man
who just fishes for bites. The main lake is deceptively deep, up to 17 feet in
parts, is fed by 3 natural springs which gives a very good water quality on
which fish thrive. In addition to the main lake there is a former canal arm
which is also fairly deep at 6 to 7 foot. Used mainly as a stock pond it offers
excellent fishing for the younger angler. There is another small lake called the
Duckery. Set in amongst trees and surrounded by reeds its a delighfull spot away
from the hustle and bustle of the busy main lake. Day tickets on the bank and
there are concessions for OAP and juveniles Fishing is from dawn until dusk.
Charges are £5.00 per day with a reduction after 4pm in the Summer to £3.00 In
the winter the lower priced ticket at £3.00 is available from 12 noon From the
start of August until the beginning of November the left bank as you approach
the fishery from the car park, is used for matches every Sunday morning. There
is also the odd match during the week and on Saturday mornings. If in doubt ring
the contact number 01455 220974 Location. From Rugby. Take the B4112 through
Newbold and head for Pailton. At Pailton bear left onto main road and head for
Withybrook. Cross the Fosse way, B4455, take next left at the bottom of the hill
onto Withybrook lane and head for Shilton. The lakes entrance is about 1 mile on
the left. Map ref Landranger 140. There are more details about the Fishery on
