| This is an old supply reservoir for the Grand Union canal. For many years it
was ·fished by a syndicate but then Daventry Council took over and offered day
ticket fishing. They also created a Country Park with walks, play areas, a shop
and cafe and toilets. Its a big lake covering around 75 acres although most of
the fishing is done at the dam end. To some degree this has been spoilt by the
introduction of large stones on the dam making it difficult to fish from The
lake holds a big head of bream and roach but these days they are not fished for
like they used to be. However the lake does hold some big pike and at the moment
that is what attracts the most anglers. When the level drops in the late Summer
the east side of the lake can be fished quite comfortably. This bank is
controlled by the local club and season tickets are available. Charges. to be
advised. Location. North of Daventry on the B4036. The entrance to the Country
park is clearly signposted approx 1 mile from the Town centre. Grid ref 5864 on
Landranger 152. |
