This is a very popular water being close to the City of Coventry. Run by the
city council as a day ticket fishery it offers 100 pegs on the main public bank
and a further 40 on the Linley bank which are usually reserved purely for match
fishing. There are plenty of good bream and roach with some large carp and a
decent head of pike plus the Zander which were introduced illegally many years
ago. It is a shallow lake but is well sheltered from damaging winds. The bream
run big with fish over 7lb common and matches are o ften won with bags in excess
of 60lb. 100lb pleasure bags are taken frequently. The carp run to 30lb plus but
they are not easy and the pike too grow big with plenty of fish over 20lb taken
every season. There is only one access and some of the best pegs are at the far
end of the water. So its a long walk although its only a maintained walkway so
its not too bad. A trolley is advised. You don't have to go that far as many of
the early pegs also fish well. Day tickets on the bank and season tickets are
available from the warden or the City Council offices. A Close Season is in
operation at Coombe. Season starts on June 16th ends March 14th. Charges. Day
ticket £3.50. Concessionary day charge for junior or OAP £2.00. Season ticket
Day time only £30.00 Night included £60.00 Half price for Junior/ OAP. A mid
week ticket is also available at £20.00 or;£10.00 for Jun/OAP. This does not
include night fishing. which is only included on the Full ticket. Clubs can book
Coombe for matches. 60 pegs are available on the Public bank at £3.50 per peg.
The private bank which is known as the Lindley bank can also be booked but all
40 pegs must be booked. Coventry clubs can book for £140. outside clubs can book
for £200. For further information and to enquire about bookings ring 01203
453720~ Location. Situated close to Coventry City the water is close to the main
A46 trunk rd that acts as a bypass for the City. From Rugby the fishery is best
approached by taking the A428 through Lawford. At the Bretford Turn go over the
river and follow the main rd to the right on B4455, the~ Fosse way. This takes
you to Brinklow. Pick up the B4027 to Coventry. After about 3 miles go past
entrance to the main Coombe park. The fishery entrance is a further 3/4 mile
further on the right. The car park is close to the road. |
