| Part of the drinking water network for the Northampton area Hollowell has
become a good coarse fishing lake. During the summer months the tench fishing is
excellent with some very big fish. In the Winter months it's the pike that become
the main quarry. Apart from the natural stock many pike have found their way to
Hollowell through nettings at the trout reservoirs and whilst there are doubts
about stocking in this manner the fish have settled down and now the pike fishing
is improving all the time. The lake also holds some good perch and as a bonus
there are some roach-rudd hybrids that are superb fish to catch. To catch a
roach look alike that can be near 3lb is an anglers dream and they do grow that
big. The fishing is controlled by Anglian water. A self service system for day
tickets is on site. day permits for 2000 are £6.00 A season ticket can be
purchased for £70 and that allows for 2 rods. There is parking by the Dam and
also at the Guilsborough road end, although it is unwise to leave cars unattended
on this carp park which is well away from the fishing. Location. 12 miles to the
east of Rugby close to the A50. take the A428 Northampton rd through Crick At
West Haddon take the Guilsborough rd , go through Guilsborough and just before
the Village of Hollowell there is a left turn into the reservoir grounds. Map ref
