BARBY MILL POOL

One of the 1st man made fishing pools in the area Originally it was a mill, the structure for the wind driven sails is still there and being converted into living accommodation by the owner Richard Bubb. From a marsh area he dug out the 2 pools that make up the Mill fishery. The smaller pool is kept for trout rearing and limited fishing suitable for a beginner to the art of casting a fly. The main pool houses some 20 pegs, so it is ideal for small clubs. The large  pool holds some very big carp and ~fish over 20lb are taken on a regular basis. There are good stocks of most species with tench, bream, roach, rudd, perch and loads of obliging gudgeon which may not be everyone's cup of tea but tell that to a young lad when his float keeps going under. All methods work although recently the pole has dominated for general fishing. Some of the specialist carp anglers fish at the Mill so the fish are well used to boilies, Paste baits, luncheon meat, sweetcorn, bread and the usual worms and maggots all account for plenty of fish. You takes your choice of method and will rarely be disappointed. Fishery rules are the same as the Banks. barbless hooks, limited groundbaiting and no large fish in keepnets. The common sense law applies here as it does everywhere.
