Situated close to the village of Newton near Rugby this is a 3 pool complex
that enjoys a lot of popularity both for its fishing and location. The amiable
owner, Reg Perkins, spends a lot of time and effort making sure his customers
have the best of the fishing. Close
parking means very little walking and security of vehicles is ensured. The
top pool holds a good head of all species including some good chub and carp and
tench but there are also plenty of silver fish to keep the float going under.
The bottom pool holds a good head of all species and is often used for small 20
peg matches. The middle pool has undergone extensive enlarging in recent years
and is now the home of some quite big carp with fish over 201b a distinct
possibility. A recent stocking ofgrass carp included a fish of 201b It also
holds a good number of other fish. The middle lake has become the specimen water
and the only one where night fishing will be allowed but only by prior
arrangement. The phone number appears at the end of the notes. There are no
keepnets on this lake but they are allowed on the other 2 pools. Once again
anglers are asked to be sensible with nets and not to put any big fish in
amongst smaller fish denerally its best to return allfish over 31b or even 21b.
All the pools contain some barbel which should grow well in the good quality of
water that exists at Spring pools. Whilst we always associate barbel with
rivers~ they do well in still waters and will still put up a good scrap to the
net. Its worth noting that barbel do take time to recover from being caught s~
spend a little time ensuring that they are fUlly recobered_before letting them
go back. ~ ~upright in the landing net immersed in
the water. Charges Day ticket E4.00 for the top and bottom lakes. Day ticket
